This forum is where the Ceramispot community helps each other out: beginners discovering clay, hobbyists who have set up a studio at home, and professional ceramicists. Here you can ask questions, share your successes (and your failures), and learn from one another.
Getting started
- Search first: type your question into the search bar. Solved topics are highlighted in the results.
- Choose the right category: wheel throwing, glazing, firing, equipment… Your question will be seen by the members who follow that category.
- Don't know a word? The short ceramics glossary explains the basic vocabulary.
- Fill in the technical details: clay, temperatures, kiln, glaze. They're often the key to understanding a problem.
- Add photos: an overall shot and a close-up, in daylight.
When someone has helped you
Click “This solved it” under the reply that fixed your problem. It will be shown at the top of the topic for everyone who searches after you. And don't hesitate to say thanks: it's always appreciated.
The badges next to names
- Verified pro: a professional whose business has been verified by Ceramispot.
- Team: a member of the Ceramispot team.
- Each member states their own level (beginner, keen hobbyist, experienced, professional) in their profile.
Stay in the loop
You automatically follow the topics you start and the ones you reply to. You can also follow a whole category to be notified of every new topic. You can set all this up in Notifications › Emails and subscriptions.
