Buying and selling with confidence
Good connections around clay begin with clear information. Here are useful checks before making a commitment.
Look closely at the equipment
Ask for recent photos showing the whole item, brand, model, rating plate and defects. For a kiln, ask about recent firings and the condition of the insulation. For a pottery wheel, request a demonstration and check which accessories are included.
Electrical installations and gas connections must be assessed by a qualified professional. A listing alone cannot confirm that equipment is compatible or safe.
Agree the terms by private message
Confirm the item or bundle, its condition, price, charges, destination and handover method. Share personal contact details only in private, if you choose to. You may mention WhatsApp in a public discussion without posting a phone number.
Classifieds messaging keeps the conversation in your account. A name, photo or badge does not guarantee equipment quality or the successful completion of a sale.
Notice anything unusual
Take time to check an exceptionally attractive offer, pressure to pay immediately or unexpected charges imposed by a supposed carrier. Never send a password, sign-in code or identity document copy to reassure a stranger.
If in doubt, stop the exchange and use the Report button on the listing or conversation. Keep your messages and relevant records.
